Accessing the warmth of the heart
For most adults as they get older, access to spontaneous joy, openness and compassion tends to decrease.
That is not natural, it is a byproduct of conditioned experience.
Rights and wrongs, does and don’ts, shoulds and shouldn’ts, gradually split our hearts and minds from the infinite context that would otherwise inform our curiosity and compassion for the people, ideas and circumstances of our lives.
So we go numb and rigid in many ways, with the physiological correlate being a tense body that we struggle to feel.
Many of us have a recoverable nostalgia for aspects of our childhood — what if the wisdom of adulthood could be married with the ease and lightness of our child self?
It’s possible! A simple key is to make a practice of entering the body with your attention and being with it, being curious.
Gradually, you will notice your body becomes lighter, your daily mood better, there’s more creativity and ease, and you create more harmony for yourself and others; this unfolds bit by bit, with ups and downs across the process.
The world situation now and others like it in our past, is the product of the gradual flight from the body, pain, and death itself, which really took off with the dawn of self-conscious existence in the human mind.
This process does not mean losing our minds, it means reconnecting them with our hearts.
There is nothing to be truly lost, just more wholeness to experience and create from 💚
Have a good week,
Kyle
