Do you fear the future? Why do we fear it?

Faith: complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

We have a tricky relationship with faith because of its entanglement with fate and coincidence. We can’t prove coincidences, whilst we are also fated to deal with suffering in our lives and to make something out of it.

In a world of both miracles and atrocities, there are two paths:

1) A belief life is meaningless at the core, and it can be calculated; the world is a fearful place, one where one looks before they leap. Where there is no higher force pulling things together into a more meaningful purpose.

2) A belief everything happens for a reason, and that we can respond and forge our path; fear will always be around, so we might as well take our chances to live the life we really wish to live while helping life itself as a part aligned with its whole. 

One does not have to fear the future, if there is a fear of the future, then the past is being projected onto it; all of the warnings, troubles and limiting narratives that tell us: ‘avoid danger, or there will be consequences’. This leads to a life of “quiet desperation”.

The golden opportunity is in this realisation, for the illusiveness of the future gives you the flexibility to choose your vision of what it will be! Thinking and feeling into this future draws it closer to you, partly through re-wiring your brain and body in anticipation.

There was a study of two groups; one learnt the piano directly, the other visualised playing it. The visualisers who imagined playing, learned almost as quickly as those that actually played! Imagination is a powerful, reality-constituting force; fear represses it.

Our higher awareness of our minds gives us the 🔑 to change them, just as our mind’s awareness of body sensations lets us notice and make changes if need be.
